FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (FCD)
Have you ever heard the expression “2nd line” or “interdisciplinary clinic”?
Have you suffered a workplace accident (CNESST) or a traffic accident (SAAQ), and you have seen no results after receiving a whole range of treatments? Well, there is another option. According to your doctor’s recommendation, you may benefit from a Functional Capacity Development Program (PDCF), which is the equivalent of an interdisciplinary program (2nd line program) if authorized by a third-party payer (your insurance company). An initial assessment or a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be performed prior to medical care. The treatment plan will be based on your performance abilities during this assessment.
Forcemedic provides this interdisciplinary program with the purpose of developing your functional abilities and helps you prepare for a safe and sustainable return to work. Therefore, you will work together with the interdisciplinary team composed of an occupational therapist, a physiotherapist, a kinesiologist and a psychologist. This qualified team will assist you, in the clinic, several hours a day, several days a week for a few weeks. Team members will conduct interdisciplinary meetings on a regular basis to discuss your progress and adjustments needed.
In the program, you can take part in general fitness and yoga classes, competitive group games, relaxation sessions, stretching, cooking workshops and psychoeducational groups led by a psychologist. Hydrotherapy sessions (in a pool) are also available and are given by a physical rehabilitation therapist. You will be active throughout the day, but gradually and within your limits, and you will always be supervised by a member of the team. Treatments can also be performed in the workplace.
Â
Our goal is to maximize your physical abilities to ensure a safe return to work and improve your occupational performances. The clinical coordinator will be communicating with your insurance company as well as your doctor when necessary.
Our program is covered by CNESST, SAAQ, IVAC and private health insurance.
