LITTLE SPRING STORY

Spring is inevitably showing up and everyone is happy to see milder days back! Everybody? Maybe not, because some people suffer from seasonal allergies every spring and for them, the return of beautiful weather rhymes with sneezing, tearing and nasal congestion.

This is the case of Jean-Pierre, JP for close friends, who has been suffering from seasonal allergies for several years. His allergies come out even year-round, because besides pollens, he is also sensitive to dust and dust mites. JP, therefore, has been taking daily antihistamines drugs for years. As he had enough of drugs and was forced to change brands each year, because they always ended up losing their efficiency, he wanted to try something else. That’s when he heard that acupuncture could help him.

Therefore, JP makes an appointment with an acupuncturist who has been referred to him by a friend. He thinks he has nothing to lose even if he is not sure of how effective acupuncture can be. He ends up going to his appointment, answers all the questions his acupuncturist asks, in order to have a good idea of his health and energy profile, then he gets his treatment. As a result, JP feels relaxed and has the impression that it’s easier for him to breathe, but he is not sure since he took his medication that morning. His acupuncturist suggests him to put on hold his antihistamines for a few days in order to measure the impact of the treatment. So, JP makes an appointment for a follow-up treatment a week later.

JP is eager to see his acupuncturist again! He really felt better this week and managed to take no medication for four days, although his symptoms, much more bearable than before, eventually came back towards the end of the week. JP had a clear insight after the second treatment. He would have never thought that acupuncture could have been as effective. He told his acupuncturist, “If I had known, I would have come sooner.” After this second treatment, JP had virtually no allergy symptoms. According to him, he still feels a tiny 10% discomfort. A third treatment would probably be enough to settle the remaining 10%. Now, JP no longer takes any medication for his allergies. He goes back to his acupuncturist as needed to strengthen his immune system and rarely has any unpleasant symptoms. Acupuncture has changed his life and he is now one of those happy people when spring arrives!
